Make Your Wedding Sparkle!

MY STORY

It's challenge time again at Decorate To Celebrate!!  With some of the great products from The Buckle Boutique, you can easily add bling and sparkle to your wedding decor.  For more creative ideas for your next celebration check out THE DECORATE TO CELEBRATE blog.  And to look at all the beautiful trims, buckles and rhinestone sheets be sure to visit THE BUCKLE BOUTIQUE website.

YOUR TURN

Using silk flowers and a vase/candle holder from the dollar store, and some Buckle Boutique products, see how easy it is to bling up your wedding or other celebration.

Using a rhinestone buckle, thread onto ribbon.  I wanted to make sure my buckles were evenly placed so after you thread on the buckle, measure around the vase and adhere with glue.

I liked to have a pattern but you can place however you like.  After the buckles were in place, I added some of the beautiful Buckle Boutique trim below the bottom ribbon and above the top ribbon. For the trim, I used metal/glass/bead glue which seemed to hold them in place better.

I cut the rhinestone sheet into two different widths to add some interest and applied accordingly.

You can easily adapt this process for coordinating candle holders.  Not only do they complement your centerpiece, you can also use these as wedding favors.

A new product from The Buckle Boutique are individual adhesive rhinestones.  For a reasonable cost, these rhinestones glitter just like the real thing and are easy to apply to any surface.  To increase the shine on the silk flowers, I added some rhinestones to the petals.  You can apply as little or as much as you want.  It is a simple way to add some more bling.  HINT:  I found it easier to apply the stickers once your flowers are in place in the vase so you can have a better view of the placement.

When using silk flowers, I like to use a glittering tulle ribbon inside the vase.  Not only does it easily support the flower stems, it adds a subtle touch of bling for any parts of the vase that you can see thru.

And you are done and although the Bride will be the star of the show, your tables will also have pretty bling.  If using at an outdoor event, I loved how the sun glinted off the trims and rhinestones.

    Happy Crafting!!

Bling for your little Princess

MY STORY

My friend called me in a panic.  Her 7 year old's birthday party was in the planning stages and, much to her mother's surprise, she announced she did not want a Frozen party, but she wanted to be a "Sparkly Princess".

With the great products from The Buckle Boutique, I knew I could start helping her out with the little princess's accessories.

The Buckle Boutique has beautiful self-adhesive sheets of rhinestones in a wide array or colors and sizes.

In addition, sparkly embellishments that will get your bling on in no time.  They are easy to cut and they stick on almost any surface I've tried.  If you are looking for bling, look no further.

YOUR TURN

Our little princess was very clear for her choice of decor -- sparkly, sparkly and some more sparkles.  I knew her party dress was pink and gold, so this was my jumping off point in terms of colors.

    HEADBAND

Our little princess needs to keep her hair neat while having fun at the party.  I found an inexpensive, lightweight headband at my favorite local dollar store.  In measuring the width, I determined it was about 2 stones in the width and just cut a piece out of the pink stones.  I left the bottom empty so it wouldn't irritate her little ears.

Now you can't have just a plain headband, so I added a little flourish.  While working on some promotions for a couple of rock bands I work with, I had found this little machine that cuts guitar picks out of anything.  And they look like perfect little petals.  The machine works basically like a hole punch, so just like that, you have petals to add to your headband.  And in about five minutes, you are done!

    PARTY FAVORS

The Mom was planning on giving out little treat bags, and I had a bunch of these burlap mini totes left over.  I also like the combo of rustic with bling.  Using the guitar pick petals again, it was just that easy to add to the front of the tote.

   CLUTCH

A little princess can't go to any party without her lip gloss, so keeping the rustic with bling motif going, I added rhinestones to a burlap makeup bag I had in my stash.  Cut out some strips for the "stems" and then add the petals and random shapes to form flowers.

The Princess was delighted with her sparkly items and I think I now will have to add to her collection for the party.

Chalk One Up

MY STORY

During a recent stint helping out at a pre-K classroom, I was given the assignment of cleaning the chalkboard erasers.  Now it is has been many, many years since I was in a classroom and I truly thought with all the high tech gadgetry, that chalkboards have become a thing of the past.  This brought me back to childhood memories (ok fears) of being called on to do math problems  on the board and I can still remember the squeaky chalk sound, the eraser dust and making hopscotch boards on the pavement during recess.

As I started researching chalkboard projects, I had no idea of all the opportunities and materials easily available to use  on some DIY jobs and I am loving this trend.

YOUR TURN

There are so many ideas out there, here are just some to get you going:

FABRIC:

In a recent catalog for Nancy's Notions I found chalkboard fabric.  Imagine what cute projects you could make:  table runners, placemats, all sorts of projects for busy little kid hands:

CONTACT PAPER

One of my go-to sources is Amazon.com.  I have used contact paper on so many projects since the days of covering books and kitchen shelves and they have chalkboard contact paper on their site.  Try covering the top of an old desk or bookcase with this.  Also using as a mural foundation in the kitchen or kid's playroom.  They also had adorable table place  holders  and vintage style chalkboards and Wallies brand decals.  Some really affordable materials:

Paper Goods

I love perusing my local Paper Source store, as well as their online catalog.  They have designed tons of different items to get the chalkboard trend in gift wrapping, home decor calendars, custom invites:

Arts and Crafts Supplies

No trip to NYC is the same without a visit to The Inkpad NYC.  On a recent visit, I found really cool craft markers and stickers.  I also picked up a rubber stamp to create my own chalkboard project....more on that later!

The Container Store also had fun chalkboard labels and markers.  I just had to get these as well as fun new organizational pieces for the studio:

Shawn Mosch, design team coordinator for The Buckle Boutique recently posted a fun project using pretty rhinestones and chalkboard paper from DCWV:

Oriental Trading is another fav resource  of mine for affordable supplies.  I picked up some chalkboard table place settings which I will be incorporating into a future project -- think shabby chic wedding or baby shower!
