Keys To My Heart Card with The Buckle Boutique

MY STORY

It is challenge time at Decorate To Celebrate!  Check out their website for great projects to celebrate your next occasion:   DTC blog.  While I was working on some cards to celebrate a friend's wedding anniversary, old school Madonna was playing on my IPOD.  "Open Your Heart" was playing and the line:  "I hold the lock and you hold the key" inspired me.  I had some old keys in my stash and with some rhinestone sticker sheets from The Buckle Boutique I had my idea!

YOUR TURN

The rhinestone sticker sheets are easy to use and apply.  And you can use some leftover scraps from a previous project.  Simply place your key (or any other object you are using) onto the back of the sticker sheet and cut out.  I don't have any die cut machines, but I love my non stick scissors from Westcott.  You will need to use just the points of the scissors for the little spots to try and cut it out as closely as you can.

For the middle of the key, I took a T pin and cut holes so I could simply bend back or remove the sticker sheets from this small area.

To build your card choose papers that complement each other.  My handwriting is not the best so I love to use rub on transfers like we had as kids.

I like the play of the "golden" keys against silver and black.  Cover your blank card stock with your background paper.

Using another paper, glue your keys against them and place on the card.  For this example, I liked the off center look but place wherever you like.

Create your wording with the rub on transfers.  Then cut out and place on your card.

Add some more embellishments with your sticker sheets and that's it.  You have a fun custom card that would be great for an anniversary, wedding, engagement, etc.

Happy Crafting!

Hand Painted Votive Holders with Bling Accessories

MY STORY

It's challenge time at Decorate To Celebrate!  Head over to the DTC blog for great projects and inspirations for your next celebration Decorate To Celebrate Blog.  And I couldn't just paint the holders but I felt they each needed some bling accessories.  Check out the great products at The Buckle Boutique to add bling to your life The Buckle Boutique.

YOUR TURN

     All you need:
  • Glass votive/ candle holders
  • Acrylic or glass paint in a variety of colors
  • Rhinestone sticker sheets / Buckles from The Buckle Boutique
  • Thin paintbrushes
  • Rubbing alcohol wipes
Clean your candle holders with soap and water and once dry, wipe clean with rubbing alcohol wipes (found at any drugstore).  For these examples, I had three themes in mind:  Holiday, Beach and Wedding.

HOLIDAY:

I chose red, green and metallic gold for my holiday look.  Starting with the darkest color, pour a small amount of paint on your palette (I use a VERY expensive palette as you can see).  Simply paint dots around your votives.  Once dry, add your second color, etc., until you have used all your colors.  Add a touch of bling around the top and you are ready for your holidays.

Based on my first approach, I made some changes for my other examples.

BEACH:

I did not care for the original brush I used so I switched it out for another thin brush. I also found it easier to fill the holder with a papertowel, it made it easier to see what you were doing.   I also painted the dots much closer together and I really liked this effect.  Same process as above.  Make sure you let each color dry before applying the next one.  And I found by overlapping some of the colors it added a nice textured look to the paint.  And of course, some bling to make it sparkle!

WEDDING:

For this look, I decided on a monochromatic color scheme -- all metallic in champagne, titanium and platinum.  Again, I went for a larger dot, and less space around the colors.  And by adding some antique ribbon and a beautiful starfish from The Buckle Boutique, your wedding celebration will sparkle!

    Happy crafting!

Make Your Wedding Sparkle!

MY STORY

It's challenge time again at Decorate To Celebrate!!  With some of the great products from The Buckle Boutique, you can easily add bling and sparkle to your wedding decor.  For more creative ideas for your next celebration check out THE DECORATE TO CELEBRATE blog.  And to look at all the beautiful trims, buckles and rhinestone sheets be sure to visit THE BUCKLE BOUTIQUE website.

YOUR TURN

Using silk flowers and a vase/candle holder from the dollar store, and some Buckle Boutique products, see how easy it is to bling up your wedding or other celebration.

Using a rhinestone buckle, thread onto ribbon.  I wanted to make sure my buckles were evenly placed so after you thread on the buckle, measure around the vase and adhere with glue.

I liked to have a pattern but you can place however you like.  After the buckles were in place, I added some of the beautiful Buckle Boutique trim below the bottom ribbon and above the top ribbon. For the trim, I used metal/glass/bead glue which seemed to hold them in place better.

I cut the rhinestone sheet into two different widths to add some interest and applied accordingly.

You can easily adapt this process for coordinating candle holders.  Not only do they complement your centerpiece, you can also use these as wedding favors.

A new product from The Buckle Boutique are individual adhesive rhinestones.  For a reasonable cost, these rhinestones glitter just like the real thing and are easy to apply to any surface.  To increase the shine on the silk flowers, I added some rhinestones to the petals.  You can apply as little or as much as you want.  It is a simple way to add some more bling.  HINT:  I found it easier to apply the stickers once your flowers are in place in the vase so you can have a better view of the placement.

When using silk flowers, I like to use a glittering tulle ribbon inside the vase.  Not only does it easily support the flower stems, it adds a subtle touch of bling for any parts of the vase that you can see thru.

And you are done and although the Bride will be the star of the show, your tables will also have pretty bling.  If using at an outdoor event, I loved how the sun glinted off the trims and rhinestones.
